Explore your creative side with painting, sculpting, and more, at the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum’s annual Kids’ Art Fest, a free art festival held September 29, noon-5:00 p.m. on Sheldon Ave, Library St., and Veteran’s Park, across from the museum.
Held in the midst of ArtPrize, Kids’ Art Fest gives children of all ages hands-on experience at a variety of art mediums, including painting, pastel drawing, clay sculpture, print making, and more. In addition, there will be live performances and presentations throughout the afternoon at the entertainment stage.
“Families that have been walking around viewing all the ArtPrize work can then come down and actually do some artwork of their own. Kids’ Art Fest is a great introduction to how the pieces they have seen are created,” says Adrienne Brown, Marketing and Events Manager at the GRCM. “This year we are working more directly with ArtPrize artists, including those displaying at the Children’s Museum, to have the kids work along with them.”
This is the fourth year for this popular event. “Kids’ Art Fest gets more exciting every year! It’s inspiring to see the natural artist in children come out,” says Robert Dean, Executive Director.
