Earlier this year the Post traveled to Hawaii with Alan and Alyson Kieda, of Solon Township, and their daughter Rachel and her husband Ryan Campbell, and grandson Thomas, of Gand Rapids. The trip was to celebrate Alan and Alyson’s 40th wedding anniversary.
After missing a day because of ice at the airport, they traveled to Maui for a few days, then Oahu for almost a week, and then the Big Island for a week.
“We stayed at a beautiful Airbnb and played on volcanic beaches,” said Alan. “We learned all about volcanoes, as one cancelled two of our housing possibilities early in the year. We wondered why they didn’t just clear the lava off the road. We went to see it and found lava 30 feet high-plus over the roads and neighborhood for miles! 2000 folks lost their homes,” he said.
The Kiedas and Campbells had a great time and took lots of photos with the Post. Thank you so much for taking us with you!

The Cedar Springs Post recently left the chilly Michigan weather behind and traveled to warmer weather in our 50th state—Hawaii—with Cedar Springs City Manager Mike Womack.
He is shown here with the Post in front of the Duke Kahanamoku statue in front of Kuhio Beach in Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii.
We are jealous, Mike! Please bring back some of that warm weather with you!

We have run out of Post travel photos, so if you have one, please send it in! (See details in other Post travels story on this page.)

Curt and Carol Steinebach traveled with two of their children, Cayden Steinebach and Emily Fishman, to Hawaii in August and they took the Post along. They visited two of the Hawaiian islands; took a catamaran tour off the Na Pali Coast in Kauai; and also hiked some of the trails in Waimea Canyon in Kauai. They also visited Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island (Hawaii) where they were able to see an active volcano. The family had a great time traveling Hawaii with the Post for the week!
Thank you to the Steinebach family for taking us with you. It sounds like you had a great time!

Lynette Elder (blue shirt) and Rene Coalter spent the last week in March in Hawaii, taking tours of the Islands of Oahu, Kona, and the Big Island. And they took the Post with them!
“We saw whales and dolphins, and enjoyed the sea turtles on Black Sand Beach. The one active volcano and the side of the mountain where lava had hardened into fields of black rock was so different and interesting,” remarked Lynette. “We ate at a Luau, took a submarine ride and visited the Pearl Harbor Memorial. There is so much to see and do, on these beautiful islands. We are so glad to have went on our “Dream Vacation” and learned about our 50th state!”
