CS youth wrestling represents at Grand Haven tournament

The CS Youth wrestling program took 22 wrestlers this past Sunday to Grand Haven High School and came away with 15 medals. The team finished 7th overall but was 5th in pins with 19 (35:25). Coach Streeter was impressed with the result saying, “These kids continue to improve week after week and to see their determination on the mat is very rewarding as a coach!”

Starting things out in the 2012/2014 age division Brycen Alber brought home another 1st place medal in the 46lb weight class. Sierra Streeter won another medal with a 3rd place finish in the 49lb weight class. Benjamin Streeter took 3rd place in the 82lb weight class. In the 2010/2011 52lb Novice bracket, a pair of Red Hawks medaled with Eli Gunderson turning in a 3rd place finish and Elijah Elam finishing 4th.

Continuing on in the 2008/2009 Open age division Spencer Shoenborn took 3rd place in the 69lb bracket and Deegan Pike earned a 2nd place finish in the 72lb weight class. In a combined weight class of 78/81, Blake Falan took 2nd place while in another combined bracket of 85/90lbs Jonathan Libera placed 3rd. On the Novice side, Kale Faurot took 3rd in a combined bracket of 72/75lbs and Zachary Vu took 2nd place in the 110lb weight class.

Rounding out the day was the 2006/2007 and 2004/2005 age groups. Wyatt Cooper secured a 2nd place finish in the 2006/2007 Open heavyweight  bracket, with Rory Schoenborn earning a 1st place medal in the 2006/2007 Novice bracket. Carter Falan had another good showing with a 3rd place finish in the combined bracket of 138/145lb bracket in the 2004/2005 age group.

Next week CSYW travels to Zeeland on Saturday for a team tournament and to Muskegon Orchard View on Sunday to participate in the West Region’s Greights Tournament.
