Freshmen sweeps FHN in doubleheader

On Friday, May 17, the freshman Red Hawks baseball team finished their season with an impressive doubleheader sweep of Forest Hills Northern by the scores 7-5 and 14-10.

On Friday, May 17, the Red Hawk freshmen baseball team was down 5-3 going into the last inning of the first game of a doubleheader against Forest Hills Northern, when they came from behind to win the game by a final score of 7-5.

Brennon Porter knocked in a run with a solid single to bring the Red Hawks within one run of a tie (5-4).  Logan Harris hit a line drive double over the center fielder’s head to knock in the tying and go-ahead run to give the Red Hawks a 6-5 lead.  The final run was scored on a wild pitch. Cayden Steinebach pitched a complete game surrendering only 6 hits and allowing only 3 earned runs against a good hitting Forest Hills Northern Team.

In the second game, the Red Hawks really hit the ball hard and ran the bases aggressively. “The Red Hawk bats came to life,” said Coach Jeff Readwin.

The Team scored 14 runs on 14 total hits. The 5 players who had 2 or more hits in that second game were: Cayden Steinebach, Jayden Adriense, Brennen Porter, Logan Harris, Jacob Rocafort, and Joe Meade.  The final outcome was a Red Hawk win by a score of 14-10.
