CTA boys and girls basketball teams conference champs



The CTA Varsity Lady Chargers Basketball team celebrated their championship after the game by cutting the net.

Creative Technologies Academy had two teams win conference championships this past week. Both the CTA women’s varsity basketball team and the CTA boys varsity basketball team earned the Great Lakes 6 League Conference Championship title.

The girls finished 7-1 in the league and hope to bring home the district title next week. The team swept the series 2-0 versus West Michigan Lutheran, Libertas Christian, and West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science. The girls split the series with Algoma Christian giving them their only loss. “The Lady Chargers have developed into a strong team led by returning captains, seniors Faith Watson and Hannah Hofstra,” shared Coach Lisa Perry. “Both girls have been leaders both on and off the court and will be missed next season.”

The boys finished 8-2 in league play and look forward to their district tournament. The boys are being led by senior caption Luke Hubbard who averaged 25.7 points per game and sophomore Ivan Winters who averaged 21.1 points per game. The conference came down to the last game where the Chargers defeated Barry County Christian by a score of 59-56. The Chargers swept the series 2-0 versus Algoma Christian, West Michigan Lutheran, and Hudsonville Libertas Christian. The boys split the series with West Michigan Academy of Environmental Sciences and Barry County Christian. Good luck to the Chargers as they look to bring home a district title next week.

Red Hawk bowlers looking to win conference


Sophomore Omani Morales placed 5th out of 46 and junior Sarah Galloway placed 12th out of 46 at the Caledonia invitational pre-regional singles.

Sophmore Omani Morales placed 2nd out of more than 100 bowlers at the Mona Shores invitational with a three-game series of 574.

The Red Hawk boys and girls bowling teams have been busy trying to roll their way towards a conference championship.

On January 31, both the boys and girls won their conference matches against Ottawa Hills, 30-0. 

On February 3, they competed at the Hudsonville invitational. The boys finished  8th out of 12 teams, and the girls finished 3rd out of 12.

On February 7, they bowled in a conference match against Northview. The boys won 26-4, and the girls won 17-13.

At the Mona Shores invitational on February 10, the boys placed 12th out of 24, and the girls took first place. Sophomore Omani Morales placed 2nd out of more than 100 bowlers with a three-game series of 574. 

On February 11, at the Caledonia invitational pre-regional singles, sophomore Omani Morales placed 5th out of 46; and junior Sarah Galloway placed 12th out of 46.

The teams were scheduled for a match against Forest Hills Northern on February 14 (Wednesday evening), and then the post season on Saturday, February 17 at Northview. The outcome there will determine the conference championship. The girls team is currently in first place, and the boys are tied for first place with Northview and Lowell.

Track team makes history with conference championship


The Red Hawk team after winning their conference championship

The Cedar Springs Red Hawk girls track team won their first conference championship in school history, on Friday May 11, at Belding. The team scored 128 points to finish ahead of West Catholic, who scored 112. The victory in the conference meet, combined with an undefeated league dual record, gives the team the outright OK Blue Championship.
