Community thrift sale to benefit Sheldon house

Donate your items June 25-26 for the Thrift Sale, which will be held June 29-30

Sheldon House, a program of Cherry Health, is accepting donations for a Community Thrift Sale. The proceeds will benefit Sheldon House, a program focused on breaking the stigma of mental illness that provides life-changing support and resources to adults living with mental illness in Kent County. Sheldon House offers members an opportunity to belong, contribute to the community, receive support, gain skills, obtain employment, pursue their education, and build a support system to move forward in their recovery.

For those interested in donating, clean and usable items may be dropped off on June 25 and 26 in advance of the sale, which will be held June 29 and 30. Certain items will not be accepted, including: mattresses, sleeper sofas, cribs/car seats, tube TVs, stuffed animals, and hazardous chemicals/waste.

The sale will support Sheldon House’s members who are aspiring to achieve their personal goals and contribute to the communities they live in. The accredited program provides strong outcomes, including improved physical and mental health, decreased hospitalizations, reduced incarcerations, greater employment opportunities, and increased overall quality of life for those living with mental illness.

Drop off items Saturday, June 25 and Sunday, June 26 from 4-7 p.m. at 2929 Ottawa Ave. SW, in Grandville. The sale is Wednesday, June 29 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursday, June 30, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (items half price from 12-3 p.m.) also at 2929 Ottawa Ave. SW, Grandville.
