Jacob James Sheber Jr., age 74 of Pierson, passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. Jake was born on November 23, 1946 in St. Ignace, Michigan to Jacob and Isobel (Clement) Sheber. He graduated from LaSalle High School in St. Ignace and served in the United States Army. Jake worked for 39 years for Knape and Vogt and also served on the Oakfield Township Fire Department. He was a member of American Legion Post 554 in Morley and was an avid deer hunter. Jake was also a member of the Sault Ste Marie Tribe of the Chippewa Indians. Jake is survived by his wife of 51 years, Judith (Sovereign) Sheber; his son, Jacob (Holly Curtis) Sheber, III; his daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl and David Lopez; his grandsons, David Lopez, Grandson, Leonardo Lopez, grandson, and Aaron Rodriguez; his sister, Aimee Penrose; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sister, Bertha Smith, sister, Isobel Fleetstra, sister, Lenore Murray; brother, Edward Sheber. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, October 14, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at the Pierson Bible Church, 101 Grand Street, Pierson, Michigan 49339. Pastor Tom Ekkel will be officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at church. Burial with Military Honors will take place in the Pierson Cemetery.
