Cheer takes wins at Kenowa Hills and Comstock Park
Varsity cheer took first at both Kenowa Hills and Comstock Park last week.

The Cedar Springs High School Competitive Cheer program continues to see their hard work and dedication pay off with increased scores and first place finishes in competitions last week.

On Wednesday, March 3, both squads squared off against teams in the OK Gold Conference at Kenowa Hills High School. The Varsity team earned first place by earning 734.34. The JV team, who recently added two more teammates to Round 1 and 3, had 2 days to reconfigure both rounds before the competition. Their hard work paid off because the girls scored their highest Round 1 score of the season and earned first place with a score of 586.9.

On Saturday, March 6t, the Varsity team competed against 14 teams in the Comstock Park

Invitational and swept the entire event with a score of 746.62.

Coach Anne Olszewski praised the hard work of her team. “I am super proud of the progress these girls make each week and the win on Saturday was greatly needed,” she said.

JV Cheer continues to shine on the mat.

The JV team competed in the West Catholic Invitational and placed first in their quad beating Spring Lake with a score of 560.30.

Cedar Springs High School will host the OK Gold Conference finals on Wednesday, March 10.

Coach Olszewski has high hopes for Team 2021. “This is a new conference for us. We have been champions in the OK White for the last three years and it would be awesome to cross over and take the Gold as well. These girls are awesome!”

In addition to conference finals, the school will also celebrate eight seniors as they perform on the blue mats for the very last time: Sarah Adkison, Shelby Beeman, Sophia Dault, Isabella Mosqueda, Hannah Pienton, Kathryn Roth and exchange students Ellen Nordlund and Clara Soto-Suarez. We are proud of each of you and wish you the best in all of your future endeavors!
