GARRY HOSMER

Garry Hosmer, age 80, passed away Friday, November 27, 2020. He was born June 23, 1940 to the late Calvin and Edith (Williams) Hosmer in Sparta, MI. He is proceeded in death by his sister Dorothy Conklin. Garry graduated from Sparta High School in 1959. He proudly served in the Army and was stationed in Korea from 1963-65. Garry married Becky Campbell on August 13, 1966. Together, they purchased the Sparta Sport Shop, a hunting and fishing store, which they ran for over 50 years. Garry also worked at Knape and Vogt Industries in Grand Rapids and retired from there after 28 years. Garry was an avid bowler and took great pleasure in achieving three 300 games during his life. Garry loved being a part of the Sparta Community and took pride in the friendships and connections he made over the years. Anyone who knew Garry, knew his smile lit up the room. He was a devoted family man and will lovingly be remembered by his wife Becky of 54 years; sons, Garry (Debbie) Hosmer, Jon Hosmer; daughter, Alyssa (Tim) Ladd; grandchildren, Lynnette (Tim) Caldwell; Colleen (Zach) Bertanna; Geralynn (Joe) Sharp; Ally, Brooke, Ryan, & Natalie Ladd, as well as 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, Cal (Judy) Hosmer; Bernice Horter, Beatrice (Sonny) Eastman; Robert (Joyce) Hosmer; Russell (Barbara) Hosmer, Marcia (Larry) Hill; Karen (Jim) Wilk; Jim (Arlene) Yost; Ida (Lynne) Gendregske; Virginia (Chuck) Siffert; Eileen Johnson, many nieces and nephews, and special friends Christy and Chloe Witte. Due to current restrictions, private family services were held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors. The family plans on celebrating Garry’s life with family and friends in 2021.
