Red Hawk tennis takes third at tournament
Ethan Plummer, #1 singles for Cedar Springs, went undefeated in the home quad tournament last week.

The Red Hawk boys tennis team played two tournaments last week, one at Forest Hills Eastern on August 31, and hosted a quad at home on September 3.

The Red Hawks lost 0-8 to a strong Forest Hills Eastern team but the #1 Doubles team (freshman Walker Glyshaw and sophomore Chase Moore) took Forest Hills to three sets in a back and forth battle that lasted nearly 3 hours.

Cole Harms, #4 singles for Cedar Springs.

At the home tournament on September 3, they played for awhile before the rain set in. “We got through 2 rounds, and half of the 3rd, before being rained off the court. The final round wins were given to whoever was ahead at the time of the stoppage, so the results could have been different for sure,” explained Red Hawk Coach Lee Cornelius.

The Red Hawks took 3rd place, with first place going to Lansing Catholic High School.

Cedar’s number 1 singles player, senior and captain, Ethan Plummer, went undefeated. Plummer had wins over both Big Rapids and Lansing Catholic’s number 1 singles players.

Cedar Springs number #3 singles, senior and captain, Trever Marshall, had wins over Big Rapids and Essexville Garber. His 3rd round match was halted due to rain.
