It was a nail biting, seat gripping, disco light show, action packed Friday night in the Hawks Nest as the Red Hawks host Greenville and Ottawa Hills. The Red Hawks prevailed in thrilling fashion as junior Anthony Lizardo pinned his man in the final match to claim the duel victory over Greenville.

The first year wrestler Lizardo explains, “I was terrified. I wanted to do it for the team. It was a big deal.”

Head Coach Nick Emery, who is in his eighth season leading the Red Hawks, described the win as “One of our most memorable victories with a great home crowd and a scrappy young team that refused to quit.”

The Hawks took care of business with a win over Ottawa Hills and finished 5-1 in the OK White for the fourth consecutive season. The team finishes four years of OK White action with a 20-4 record and their only defeats coming at the hands of state champ Lowell.

Heading into the post season, the squad is paced by Trevor Marsman (41-0), Andrew VanGessel (30-2) Nate Elliston (35-7) Carter Falan (21-7) Alex Ream (21-7) and Landon Demorest (21-12). The boys can next be found Friday night at Lowell high school competing for OK White individual Championships.
