The 2019-20 Lady Red Hawks Competitive Cheer Team is committed to continuing the tradition of excellence in CSHS Cheer this season. After finishing 5th at the Michigan Competitive Cheer Competition State Finals in March and graduating five seniors, this year’s team consisting of eight seniors, five juniors, six sophomores and one freshman is prepared to dominate the OK-White Conference and claim its top spot for the fourth year in a row.

The Lady Red Hawk Competitive Cheer team began their 2019-20 season on December 13 at the annual Competitive Cheer Coaches Association of Michigan Cheer Scholarship Competition held at Jenison High School. Twenty of the best varsity programs in West Michigan squared off for the top spot in the Division 1 and Division 2 contest. The Lady Red Hawks had a very strong showing, earning second place in the Division 2 bracket and fourth overall with a combined Round Three score of 719.74.

Coach Anne Olszewski returns for her 6th year as head coach for the program. “I am pleased overall with our competition on Friday,” she remarked. “We hit our goal to break 700 points right out of the gate. We fought through some pretty serious jitters from all levels and executed some very difficult material.”

The team is led by seniors Zoe Castor, Olivia Esquivel, Tressa Hall, Rylee Kinzinger, Alexis Lee, Paige Pierson, Cory Shaffer and Morgan Symon. Coach Olszewski is very excited about the potential of this year’s group.

“Our goals will be to keep learning and cleaning up the rounds and to add difficulty to Rounds One and Three. I want the very best for these 20 girls and constantly remind them that they can do anything that they put their minds to!”

Come and support the team this season. This week the ladies will compete in the Jenison Cheer Invitational on Wednesday, December 18 and at the Reeths-Puffer Invitational on Saturday, December 21. Good luck Lady Red Hawks!
