Jewell Skirmish at Rod and Gun Club

All are invited to attend the “American Civil War Association” Jewell Skirmish on May 4-5 at the Red Flannel Rod and Gun Club, 7463 18 Mile Rd, Cedar Springs.

The event is named in remembrance of the Cedar Springs Jewell branch of the Grand Army of the Republic. This is not a reenactment, but rather a live fire competition with teams representing both Union and Confederate units using Civil War weapons. It is a kid/family-friendly event. Concessions will be provided by the Cedar Springs Cub Scout pack #3222. Admission is free.

Events are as follows:

Saturday, May 4

9:00 a.m. – Repeater match: Four events, three-person teams, 50 yards, 90 seconds.

10:45 a.m. – Smooth bore musket match: Four events, three-person teams, 25 yards, three minutes.

12:00 –  Lunch. Please support our Cub Scout pack.

1:15 p.m. – Carbine match: Five events, four-person teams, 50 yards, five minutes, two relays.

3:30 p.m. – Revolver match: four events, 3-4 person teams, 15 yards, 90 seconds, one or two-handed hold allowed, two relays.

5:00 p.m. – Mortar match: One event, 144 yards, seven shots, 30 minutes.

Saturday, May 5

9:30 a.m. – Opening ceremony

9:45 a.m. – Rifled musket match: five events, six-person teams, 50 yards, five minutes, two relays.
