The Foreigner opens at the Kent

Oct. 13-15: The Foreigner, a two-act comedy, written by Larry Shue, will open on the Kent Theatre stage on Thursday, October 13th and run through Saturday, October 15th. Doors open at 7 p.m. and performances start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased from the CS Public Library, from any cast member or by calling 616-307-9473 for $10 for adults 18 and over and $8 for students 17 and under. Tickets are also available at the door for $12 for adults 18 and over and $8 for students 17 and under before each performance. #40,41p

Sand Lake UMC Annual Rummage Sale

Oct. 13-15: Rummage Sale – October 13 & 14 from 9am- 5pm and October 15 from 9am – noon at the Sand Lake United Methodist Church, 65 W. Maple St. Sand Lake. #41

New Life UMC Craft Sale

Oct. 14,15: The folks at New Life United Methodist Church are having their Annual Craft Sale. 6584 (M-46) Howard City – Edmore Rd., in Six Lakes. Friday, October 14th from 10 am to 5 pm and Saturday, October 15th from 10 am to 4 pm. The Cafe will be open. Shop early, unique gifts for all occasions. #41

Fall Festival Harvest & Pig Roast

Oct. 15: Pilgrim Bible Church is hosting a Fall Festival & Pig Roast on Saturday, October 15th from 2 to 5 pm. We are located at 361 Pine Street across from Creative Technology Academy. We will be meeting in the Sicard Center, the large building on the north end of the property. This is a free event and everyone is welcome. Join us for kid’s games, food, fun, hay rides, and friendship. We welcome the opportunity to meet new friends, renew old acquaintances and have a great time. Dinner at the Legion

Oct. 17: American Legion, 80 S. Main St. Cedar Springs, is hosting a Roast Beef & Onions dinner on Monday, October 17th, from 5 – 7 pm. Included will be mashed potatoes, veggies, salad, roll, drink and dessert. The cost is $9 for adults, children (15 and younger) $4.00. Come and enjoy home cooking. Blood Drive

Oct. 18: Michigan Blood Drive on October 18th at the Cedar Springs United Methodist Church from 12:30 pm until 7 pm. Each pint collected has the potential of saving and/or extending 3 people’s lives right here in Michigan Communities. The Blood Center thanks all the people that attempt to donate at the Cedar Springs blood drive. #41

Dinner at East Nelson UMC

Oct. 19: On Wednesday, October 19th East Nelson United Methodist Church, 9024 – 18 Mile Rd., Cedar Springs, will be serving a Salisbury Steak dinner from 5 to 7 pm. Steak & gravy, red potatoes, veggies, relish tray, rolls and homemade desserts! Donations will go to local missions. #41

Flu Shot and Community Luncheon

Oct. 20: Cedar Springs Area Parks and Recreation will host its monthly community luncheon at 11:30am on Thursday Oct. 20th at the Courtland Twp. Hall. Meijer will be there doing flu shots and answering questions. Lunch is provided for $8. Please bring a photo id and insurance card. Reservations are required by Tuesday Oct. 18th by calling 696-7320. #41

Alogoma Christian School Auction 

Oct. 22: Everyone welcome – Algoma Christian School Auction! Join us on Saturday, October 22nd for a delicious pulled pork dinner buffet, farmers market, and silent auction at 4:30 pm. Live auction beginning at 6 pm. Hundreds of items up for bid! Child care available (ages 4 to 5th grade). #41

Auditions announced for upcoming Christmas play

Oct. 24,25: Auditions for “It’s a Wonderful Life, A Live Radio Show” adapted by Joe Landry will be held on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 24 and 25, at the CS United Methodist Church from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Needed are youngsters 12 and up; and women and men of all ages. The play will be performed on the Kent Theatre stage on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, Dec. 8, 9 and 10. Rehearsals will start on Oct. 27 and be held at the CS United Methodist Church. Actors should plan to attend three nights a week until the production moves into the Kent two weeks prior to opening night, then it will be four or more nights a week.  If you have questions, please call 616-307-9473.  #40,41

Fall Festival @ Solon Center Wesleyan Church

Oct. 26: The Solon Center Wesleyan Church presents its annual Fall Festival on Wednesday, October 26th. Registration begins at 6:30 pm. Fall fun for families with children 5th grade and under. Enjoy games, prizes, snacks, candy & lots of fun. Kids wear your costumes and bring a friend! The church is located @ 15671 Algoma Avenue, just north of 19 Mile Rd. All welcome! #41,42
