Red Hawks #3 doubles, Tim Shovan, setting up for a return shot.

The Cedar Springs Varsity boys tennis team played a home match with Kenowa Hills on Wednesday September 30, which ended in a 5-3 win for the Red Hawks. Winning flights were #1 singles Blake Fisk, #3 singles Drew French, #1 doubles Jared Liggett/Dylan Kolasa, #2 doubles Ethan Brown/Nick Hibbs and #3 doubles Jon Baculy/Tim Shovan. Coach Katie Unsworth commented, “At #1 singles, Blake Fisk fought some tough competition in the first set, but honed in on a strategy in the second set to defeat his opponent 6-4, 6-2.  At #2 Singles, Karsen Dingman had a bigger battle, with his stomach causing him problems, but being the trooper that he is, was able to make somewhat of a comeback in the second set, final score 1-6, 4-6.  Drew French had a not too surprising win again at #3 singles, with a score of 6-1, 6-4. Nice job Drew! 1, 2, and 3 doubles all won their flights. These doubles teams all play some exciting matches and they are fun to watch! Hail to the victors: Dylan Kolasa and Jared Liggett (1 Doubles), Ethan Brown and Nick Hibbs (2 Doubles) and Jonathon Baculy and Timothy Shovan (3 Doubles). At 4 Doubles, Dane Conely and Alex Robinson had an epic battle for the first set but lost the set tie break 7-3.  Even though the score does not reflect it, they had a great match (7-6, 6-1) Way to go Red Hawks!”
