Here we grow again

The work of non-profit organizations in the community can often go unnoticed and needed funds for their tireless work can be a stress on the group. Extra expenses for necessary items are often put on the back burner. It’s a tremendous help when someone steps forward to relieve the burden and that is exactly what the Women’s Ministry of the Solon Center Wesleyan Church is attempting to do for the Alpha Family Center here in Cedar Springs.

Alpha Family Center is a Christian, pro-life, pregnancy care center offering necessary services to families faced with a crisis pregnancy, whether planned or unplanned. Alpha gives clients valid alternatives to abortion, while offering them the encouragement and support they may not get elsewhere. Alpha Family Center exists to affirm and promote the sanctity of human life and value of the family; they are devoted to providing spiritual, emotional, educational, and material support to individuals and families, guiding them towards Biblical relationships and lifestyles.

To help this organization that so greatly values the families of the Cedar Springs community, the SCWC Women’s Ministry will be hosting a “Like New” sales event (much Like a “Mom to Mom” sale) on Saturday, May 2, at the church, to benefit the wonderful works of Alpha. The sale will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and merchandise will consist of gently used clothing, toys and furniture for children aged birth to 5 years old, and women’s regular and maternity clothing, purses, shoes and accessories. Any remaining merchandise will be donated to the center, along with other charitable organizations in the Cedar Springs community.

The goal of this sale is to raise $2,500 to help Alpha purchase iPads and curriculum to aid in their mentoring programs.

Here’s how you can help:

#1. Donate items.  A list of needed items can be found on the church website at www.scwchurch.org. #2. Open volunteer opportunities are available to help with the sale.

#3. Most importantly, please come and shop, tell your friends and neighbors, and pray for the success of this event.

Please bring your items to the church. Donation dates are:  Saturday, April 18 from 10-Noon, Monday, April 20 from 10-noon, Wednesday, April 22 from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday April 25 from 10-Noon.  The last collection date will be Monday, April 27 from 3-7 p.m.

The church is located just north of 19 Mile Road at 15671 Algoma Avenue.
