Girls track starts season with 2-0 dual record


The Varsity Girls Track Team opened their season before spring break for the first time in two years. The team traveled to Sparta for the Snowmelter Invitational.
The team scored 136.6 points and placed third, in the five-team meet, behind Sparta and Lowell. Junior Alyson Marvel won the 100 meter hurdles and placed second in the pole vault. Sophomore Tara Tepin earned third places in the high jump, 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles. Also placing for the team was:

2nd Place: 

Ellie Ovokaitys 1.6 mile run

Shuttle hurdle relay team of Tara Tepin, Kayley Louck, Madison Mora, and Allyson Marvel.

1600 meter relay team of  Mathilda Stocke, Kayley Louck, Hannah Heintzelman, and Kenzie Weiler.

3rd Place: 400 and 800 meter relay team of Kayley Louck, Kaylee Mihlethaler, Emilee Hickox,  Mathilda Stocke.

4th Place:

Allie Colley discus

5th Place:

Mackenzie Rugg 200 meter dash

Hannah Heintzelman 800 meter run

On Wednesday, April 1, the team hosted a double dual meet against Comstock Park and Newaygo. They defeated both teams to start the season with a 2 and 0 dual meet record. Senior Kenzie Weiler lowered here school record in winning the 800 meter run with a time of 2:19.37. Kenzie also won the 3200 meter run. Tara Tepin won four events, 100 and 200 meter dashes, high jump and the 300 meter hurdles.  Allyson Marvel and Allie Colley were double event winners. Marvel won the pole vault and the 100 meter hurdles while Colley won the shot put and discus.

Rachel Bowers long jump, Ellie Ovokaitys 1600 meter run, Mackenzie Rugg 400 meter dash, 3200 meter relay team of Ellie Ovokaitys, Hannah Heintzelman, Emily Shaft and Kenzie Weiler, 800 meter relay team of Kayley Louck, Rachel Bowers, Mackenzie Rugg, and Emilee Hickox, 400 meter relay team of Kayley Louck, Rachel Bowers, Emilee Hickox, and Mathilda Stocke, and the 1600 meter relay team of Hannah Heintzelman, Allyson Marvel, Kayley Louck, and Kenzie Weiler

2nd Place finishers:

Danielle Zachmann shot put, Mackenzie Weber discus, Sophie Mihlethaler long jump, Kayley Louck 100 meter hurdles, Kaylee Mihlethaler 100 meter dash, Emily Shaft 400 meter dash, Allyson Marvel 300 meter hurdles, Hannah Heintzelman 800 meter run, Mathilda Stocke 200 meter dash, and Yuki Noma 3200 meter run.

3rd Place Finishers:

Mackenzie Weber shot put, Danielle Zachmann discus, Megan Shevock long jump, Abby Hall 100 meter dash, Madison Mora 300 meter hurdles, Ellie Ovokaitys 800 meter run, and Rachel Bowers 200 meter dash.

After Spring Break the team starts the OK Bronze Conference season by hosting
Wyoming on Wednesday, April 15, and then travels to Sparta, on Saturday, April 18, for the Spartan Tri-Level Classic.
