Used Book Sale

Oct. 10-12: The Timothy C. Houenstein Reynolds Township Library, 117 W. Williams, Howard City, will be having a used book sale October 10th, 11th, and 12th, in the Library Community Room. Thursday, 10 am to 7 pm, Friday, 10 am to 5 pm and Saturday, 10 am to 1 pm. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library. #41


Zumba Class – Cedar Springs Library Fund Raiser

Oct. 12: Saturday, October 12th at 9:30 am, Monica Sanders will be hosting a Zumba class at the CS Middle School for $10. All funds go towards the Cedar Springs Public Library Fund. #40,41p


Hope Community Church Fall Craft & Vendor Expo

Oct. 12: 10am-3pm at 7000 Myers Lake 1/4 mile north of Belding Rd. Great variety of craft items and vendors from allergy-friendly baked goods, homemade chocolates, beautiful jewelry of all kinds, crochet/knit goods of all kinds and name brand product booths (go to www.hoperockford.org for a complete listing). Spring 2014 Soccer Registration

Oct. 12, 19: Registration for Springs Soccer is Saturday, October 12 and October 19 – American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Boomer Park – 13440 Ritchie Avenue just south of 17 Mile Road. – fees are $60 per player for the spring season. Families registering 3 or more players will receive a $5 discount per player. First time players must show a Birth Certificate for age verification. Registration is now open at www.eayso.org for Membership Year 2013! Complete the online portion and bring a printed copy of the registration form along with payment to one of the events. Coat Drive at Metron

Oct. 13-27: Metron of Cedar Springs located at 400 Jeffery, will be accepting gently used coats at their facility, October 13th through October 27th. All coats donated will be given to the North Kent Service Center in Rockford. #41


Dinner at East Nelson UMC

Oct. 16: East Nelson United Methodist Church, 9024 – 18 Mile Rd. is having their monthly dinner on Wednesday, October 16th from 5 to 7 pm. Everyone is welcome! The menu is roast pork, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, Waldorf salad and several homemade desserts. See you there! #41


CSA Parks & Rec Community Luncheon

Oct. 17: The Cedar Springs Area Parks and Recreation community luncheon is at Courtland Twp Hall on Thursday, October 17 at 11:30 am. Cost us $7 for a catered lunch and a speaker. Cedar Springs Community Players Fall Production

Oct. 17-19: “What is Susan’s Secret?” by Michael Parker and Susan Parker. The Cider Mill Inn is an old, rustic and somewhat run down country inn owned by an endearing couple. At first they appear to be bordering on senility but we quickly learn that they are clever con artists, preying on their unsuspecting guests. All performances will be the Kent Theatre starting at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $12 at the door, $10 pre-sale. Family Pumpkin Carving

Oct. 17: Want to make the coolest pumpkin ever? Funniest? Scariest? Most glamorous? Here is your chance! Bring you pumpkin to the library for ideas, samples, tools, craft supplies and easy clean-up. Rummage Sale at Sand Lake UMC

Oct. 17-19: Sand Lake United Methodist Church will host a rummage sale on October 17 & 18 from 9 am to 5 pm, and Oct. 19 from 9 am to 12 pm. Lots of great stuff! #41,42p


Craft/Home Business Show

Oct. 19: St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 310 E. Division, Rockford will host a craft and home business show on Saturday, October 19th from 9 am to 3 pm. Public welcome and free admission. Sponsored by the Ladies Guild. #41,42p


Algoma Township Historical Society Meeting

Oct. 19: The October Quarterly Meeting will be held on Saturday, October 19th at 2 pm at the Algoma Township Hall located at 10531 Algoma Ave., Rockford. The speaker will be Beverly Haskins Reyner, former teacher at the one-room school house Gougeburg. Se is presenting her newly published book on her teaching at the one-room country school. Some of the former Gougeburg school students will share their memories. For anyone who attending any of the schools in Algoma Township; Algoma Central, Block, Chalmers, Edgerton, Foxville, Gougeburg, Hull or Morningstar, we are looking for those memories and pictures. The public is welcome to attend and refreshments will be served. #41
