Freshman volleyball: Great start to first season

The Freshman Lady Red Hawks started their 2013 volleyball season at the Sparta Tournament and performed well for a team that is just starting out. This team of young ladies is working hard to mesh as a group and win games together. They ended up making it into the Silver bracket of the Sparta Tournament coming out of the pool play and ending with a second place finish in the Silver bracket. The next week they went on to compete in a Big Rapids Tournament. The team came out of pool play in the second seed position after defeating Greenville. They then went on to beat Big Rapids in bracket play to get to the finals, where they defeated Fremont in only two games to win the championship.

This team of girls is working hard to find their way toward many more wins. So far in the conference games they have played West Catholic, Greenville and Northview. The girls held their own in a close first game against West Catholic, yet it was not enough to win the match. Their second conference games against Greenville ended with first game to Cedar, second to Greenville and then the third game to Cedar with the Red Hawks capturing the match win. At the Northview games, the girls struggled to find congruency as a team and ended with a match loss. As these ladies continue their season, we will inevitably see a great level of growth and consistency as they continue to work hard as a team.
