Cedar Springs Police have arrested a Courtland Township man for retail fraud, and he is a suspect in another case as well.
According to Cedar Springs Police Chief Roger Parent, Floyd Frank McCauley, 34, was arrested on January 31 for shoplifting at White Creek Lumber. Police were called there on Wednesday, January 23, after the suspect was caught shoplifting by employees, who detained him.
“The suspect admitted to stealing items not only on Wednesday, but also the day before when he was in the store,” said Chief Parent. “At the time of the investigation, the officer on scene completed the necessary paperwork, giving the subject a date to appear in court. Later, while back at the office, the officer compared information of this suspect for another recent complaint, a retail fraud that took place at Tractor Supply on January 14th. The store surveillance video was checked and this suspect appears to be the same person involved at the White Creek Lumber business,” he explained.
After seeing this new evidence, the police arrested McCauley on January 31. Bond was set at $1,500. He posted bond, and will appear in court on February 13.
