The Cedar Springs Women’s Club ushered in the New Year 2013 on January 3 at the American Legion Hall with a soup, salad and dessert luncheon prepared by the Hostess Committee. The tables were decorated with pink and blue tableware as well as hundreds of items for babies and baby care brought in by the committee and members. After the meeting, the items were donated to the Alpha Women’s Center.
The program and community focus for the meeting was presented by Terese Smith and her helpers, Jesse and Owen, from the Comprehensive Therapy Center. Since 1982, the Comprehensive Therapy Center has helped individuals and children with disabilities walk, talk, learn, and play so they can read and write. They provide complete special education services to schools, individual speech-language and occupational therapy, tutoring for all ages and fun summer programs for young children.
Terese and her helpers put the members through some “tests” to let them see what it would be like to function with certain disabilities. The program was informative and enlightening.
The Cedar Springs Women’s Club meets the first Thursday of each month from September until June at noon at the American Legion Hall. Guests are always welcome and membership is open to women who have attended two meetings and are sponsored by two members.
