A Comstock Park man is being charged with filing a false police report after he reported last month that someone posing as a police officer pulled him over.
John Russell Sturdavant, 18, originally told police that at about 7:50 p.m. November 1, a man driving a silver Pontiac Bonneville with flashing blue lights on the dash pulled him over near Peach Ridge and 15 Mile Road. He told police the driver got out and approached his car. He described him as a skinny white male in his early 20s, about 6-feet tall, wearing jeans and a hooded sweatshirt. He also said the man had something in his hand, like a flashlight. The victim then supposedly drove away.
Detectives learned through the investigation that Sturdavant was involved in a road rage incident that evening. He admitted that the driver of the Bonneville was not attempting to represent himself as a police officer. He told police he filed the report in hopes of having the other driver charged because he was angry about the road rage incident.
If anyone has any info on the other driver in the incident, they are asked to call (616) 832-6125.
