Donald L McIntyre

Donald L. McIntyre, 86 of Cedar Springs, died Friday, November 9, 2012 at Fulton Manor. Mr. McIntyre was born September 23, 1926 in Cedar Springs, Michigan the son of Raymond and Gladys (Rowlin) McIntyre. He graduated from Cedar Springs High School and served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked for Kroger for 38 years, Cedar Springs Public Schools for seven years, had owned and operated a meat processing business, small farm and Mac’s Party Store in Cedar Springs. Don served on the Cedar Springs School Board for many years, enjoyed woodworking and was an avid reader. He loved politics and was a conservative Republican. Surviving are five children and their spouses, Marie (Doug) Holem, Gary (Connie) McIntyre, Paul McIntyre, Duane (Deborah) McIntyre, Daniel (Christine) McIntyre: eleven grandchildren, Jennifer (Dr. Kal) Attie, Ryan (Melissa) Holem, Denise (Brent) Bean, Andrew (Jeni) McIntyre, Megan McIntyre, Logan McIntyre, Mallory (James) Mooney, Sarah Balcer, Emily Balcer, Nicholas McIntyre, Anna McIntyre; nine great grandchildren; sister, Mildred Robertson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Maxine (Dunn); siblings, Lawrence, Robert, Edna Hyde, and James. The family wishes to thank the staff at Fulton Manor, Faith Hospice and Bishop Hills for their care. The family received friends Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs where services were held Tuesday 11:00 am. Pastor Chad Wight officiating. Interment with military honors at Solon Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cedar Springs Education Foundation.
