Red Cross invites community to become disaster volunteers

Get Trained to Help Locally and Nationally When Disaster Strikes

The images and stories of Hurricane Sandy have compelled many in our communities to want to help.  Every year, the American Red Cross trains thousands of people and equips them with the knowledge and tools necessary to provide meaningful assistance in a coordinated response effort.

“The outflow of compassion and generosity from our communities has been wonderful,” says Cheryl Bremer, Regional CEO. “People have responded by donating blood at Red Cross blood drives, making financial gifts, and even calling to see how they can become a volunteer.”

The Red Cross is in need of financial donations to support our ongoing relief efforts both for Hurricane Sandy and for the over 60,000 small and large disasters that the Red Cross responds to every year. Please consider making a financial gift as we approach this holiday season.

The Red Cross also mobilizes the power of volunteers to respond to disasters like Hurricane Sandy and is providing a timely opportunity for members of the community to attend an introductory course at their local chapter.

On Monday, November 5 from 6:00pm to 10:00pm each chapter in West Michigan will be offering a Disaster Services Overview course and the Red Cross wants to invite members of the community to register for this course by contacting their local chapter:
