The Cedar Springs Community Players will present The Dixie Swim Club, a Jones, Hope and Wooten comedy, at the Kent Theatre on October 18, 19, 20, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. The show is directed by Sue Harrison, with Linda Hunt as stage manager.
The show is about five Southern women, whose friendships began many years ago on their college swim team. They set aside a long weekend every August to recharge those relationships—free from husbands, kids and jobs. They meet at the same beach cottage on North Carolina’s Outer Banks to catch up, laugh and meddle in each other’s lives. The Dixie Swim Club focuses on four of those weekends and spans a period of 33 years. The story is a hilarious and touching comedy about friendships that last forever.

The “Dixie Gals” in the photo are: Top L to R: Randi Richardson plays Vernadette; Joan Snyder plays Dinah; Shannon Rop plays Sheree. Seated L to R: Kate Cragwell plays Lexie; Laura Johnson plays Jeri Neal.
The cast includes Shannon Rop as Sheree, the captain of the team, who continues to try to organize the activities; Joan Snyder as Dinah, the wisecracking lawyer and career dynamo; Kate Cragwall as Lexie, who is pampered and outspoken and has been married over and over again; Randi Richardson-Royer as Vernadette, the self-deprecating, acerbic and accident-prone former school teacher; and Laura Johnson as Jeri Neal, who is sweet and eager-to-please and experiences a late entry into motherhood.
Presale tickets are available for $10 from any cast member or call (616) 696-0456. Tickets will be $12 at the door on nights of performance.
