Tri County Middle School principal sentenced

William Cichewicz

William Cichewicz

William Robert Cichewicz, former principal at Tri County Middle School, was sentenced late last month on embezzlement charges.

The Michigan State Police Lakeview Post began an investigation in February on money missing from the Booster Club Fund. Cichewicz turned himself in on June 20, and was arraigned on a five-year felony charge of embezzlement of over $1,000 but under $20,000. He pled guilty on July 2 to a reduced charge of embezzlement over $200, but less than $1,000.

Cichewicz was sentenced on August 20, in Montalm 64B District Court, to 25 days in jail, six months probation, and fines and costs of $1,705. He had already paid back the money he stole earlier this year.

Cichewicz was an employee at Tri County Schools for 13 years, and served as a teacher, vice-principal, and principal while employed there.
