Once again the freshmen boys came away victorious with a 20-8 victory over Wayland last Thursday, September 7. Going into the game, there was some uncertainty as to what to expect from Wayland, with them being a non-conference foe. The Red Hawks were unfamiliar with their style of play.

After the first half of both teams kind of feeling each other out and Wayland holding the ball for the majority of the time, the Red Hawks made some half time adjustments to seal the victory in the second half. The game remained up for grabs through 3-½ quarters, until Kereonte Hale was able to intercept Wayland’s pass mid fourth quarter, giving the ball back to the Red Hawks. They put the game away with a scoring drive capped off by a spectacular catch by Lane Gott, to put the Red Hawks up for good. With each week that passes, this team is coming together and will continue to get stronger and be a force to be reckoned with each week.

The freshmen boys will host Zeeland West this Thursday at 5 p.m. Come support them as they shoot for 4-0! Go Red Hawks!!
