TOPS weight loss support group
Oct. 11: Take off pounds sensibly (TOPS), a non-profit weight loss support group for men and women, meets every Tuesday at the Resurrection Lutheran Church in Sand Lake. Your first visit is free so come check out what TOPS can do to help you reach your weight loss goals! Exercise 8-8:30am (optional), weigh-ins from 8:30am – 9am and the meeting starts at 9:15am. Rummage Sale
Oct. 13-15: The Sand Lake United Methodist Church is having a Rummage Sale on Oct. 13 and 14 from 9 am – 5 pm and Oct. 15 from 9 am – 12 pm. Saturday fill a bag for $1. Lots of bargains and treasures.  #40

Pumpkin Carving at KDL
Oct. 13 or 15: Do you want to make the coolest pumpkin ever? Funny! Scary! Beautiful! Here is your chance. Bring your pumpkin to the library for ideas, samples, tools, craft supplies and easy clean-up. Adult participation is required. For all ages. Thurs. Oct. 13, 6:30 pm at Spencer KDL, 14960 Meddler and Sat. Oct. 15 at 10:30 am at the  Sand Lake/ Nelson Township KDL, 88 Eighth St.  #40

Used Book Sale
Oct. 13-15: A used book sale will be held at the Timothy C. Hauenstein, Reynold Township Library, 117 W. Williams St., Howard city on Thurs. Oct. 13 from 10 am – 7 pm. Fri. Oct. 14 from 10 am – 5 pm. and Sat. Oct. 15 from 10 am – 2 pm. Sponsored by Friends of the Library. #40

Gougeburg School Reunion
Oct. 15: Algoma Township Historical Society presents the Gougeburg School Reunion with speaker Gougeburg Teacher – Beverly Haskins Reyner, “One Room Schoolhouses,” Saturday, October 15, 2 pm at Algoma Township Hall, 10531 Algoma Ave., Rockford. Please bring any pictures or papers that we could copy for our records. Refreshments will be provided and all the public is invited. #40

Bird Seed Sale
Oct. 16: Stock up on a winter’s worth of birdseed, or pick up a feeder for yourself or a friend. Sunday, October 16, 10 am – 2 pm at the Howard Christensen Nature Center, 16190 Red Pine Drive. Fresh, quality sunflower, and mixed seed will be available in 50-pound bags. This annual sale supports HCNC operations and we appreciate your purchase. Contact us for more details. #40

Bike Cyclist Ride
Oct. 16: One special day only – bikes get a chance to ride our beautiful well-marked trails (yellow ribbon markers). Thursday, October 19, 8 am – 5 pm at the Howard Christensen Nature Center, 16190 Red Pine Drive. $5/adults, $4/students, $4/seniors, or $12/family. Registration and payment due October 16. #40

Roast Pork Dinner
Oct. 19: The East Nelson United Methodist Church will be serving roast pork, mashed potatoes & gravy, squash, waldorf apple salad and homemade dessert from 5 pm – 7 pm. The cost of the meal is by donation. Come join us for a delicious meal. If you should have any questions, please contact the church at 616-696-0661. #40

Shopping Trip
Nov. 5: The East Nelson United Method Church – Women are hosting a shopping trip to Birch Run Premium Outlets, Birch Run, Michigan. The tour includes transportation via motor coach. The entire day of outlet shopping at Birch Run Premium Outlets and a continental breakfast at the church prior to departure.
