Man run over and killed by own truck

Michigan State Police reported that a 64-year-old Cedar Springs man was killed Wednesday, September 7, when his truck rolled over him.
Witnesses told police that Gary Wayne Avery’s pickup, which was loaded with firewood, stalled on 10 Mile Road near M-37 about 3 p.m. The man attempted to push the pickup off the road but lost his footing and fell down, and the truck rolled backward over him. Police said he had the driver’s side door open and may have been trying to get back inside the  truck when the accident occurred.
The victim and the truck came to rest on the south side of the 10 Mile Road. He was attended by Rockford Ambulance and Alpine Township rescue personnel but died at the scene.
