Thomas “TA” Rogers

Thomas A. “TA” Rogers, 69 of Cedar Springs, died Saturday, April 2, 2011 at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. Tom was born September 14, 1941 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of Thomas and Josephine (Maksymowski) Rogers. He served in the U.S. Marines from 1958–61 and the Marine Reserves from 1961-68, was a Cedar Springs Police Officer for 14 years and enjoyed fishing, camping and gambling. He retired from General Motors Alpine Avenue after 36 years working in the sewing machine repair. He was a loving father and brother. Surviving are his children, Jeff Rogers of Rockford, Dennis (Jennifer) Rogers of Cedar Springs, Robin Rogers of Kansas City, KS; 3 granddaughters, Shelly, Lexy and Shaye; mother, Josephine Brown; sisters, Joyce Petersen, Alice Rogers, Patsy (Ron) Ladermann; aunt, Rose (Fred) Mulbrecht; uncle, Ted Ojczenasz; several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family greeted friends Wednesday from 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs, www.blisswitterspike.com A graveside service with military honors will be held Thursday 11:00 am at Sand Lake Cemetery.
