Esther Ann Dahlquist

Esther Ann Dahlquist, 84 of Cedar Springs, died Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Holland Home – Fulton Manor. Esther was born July 16, 1926 in Riverside, CA the daughter of Eric and Esther (French) Dahlquist. She had graduated from the University of California, Berkeley Campus with a bachelor degree in math and science. She was a member of the Cedar Springs United Methodist Church and sang in the choir. She also sang in the Grand Rapids Cantata Choir for many years. She was a member of the Cedar Springs Women’s Club, Cedar Springs Historical Society, and Kent County Republican Women’s Association. Her grandparents were immigrants from Sweden and she was a descendant of the pioneer French and Robinson families. She had served on the board at both Jordan College and Creative Technology Academy. Surviving are one sister, Emily Jane Knapp of Chatsworth, CA; sister-in-law, Carol Dahlquist of Longview, WA; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Geraldine Starr; and a brother, Robert Dahlquist. Visitation was held Monday from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am at the Cedar Springs United Methodist Church. Pastor Mary Ivanov officiating. Interment Solon Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cedar Springs United Methodist Church or the Cedar Springs Historical Society. Arrangements by Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs.
