Wrestlers take top honors

youth wrestlers As the winter weather continues on, so does the winning by the Cedar Springs youth wrestlers. Every weekend, hundreds of wrestlers converge at different tournaments offered all over the state of Michigan and Cedar continues to come out on top no matter where they go.  On Sunday, January 9, 2011, one group of youth wrestlers participated in a tournament held at Forest Hills Central, bringing home a total of 8 top finishes.  Finishers in the 5/6 year old group were Landon Demorest 1st at 37lbs and Maston Wood 1st at 55lbs. In the 7/8 year old group was Trevor Marsman with a 1st at 49lbs and Trenton Snoeyink 2nd at 61lbs. In the the 11/12 year old group was Tylor Carter with a 1st at 119 and Jeremy Wildfong with a 4th at 158lbs. In the 13-15 year age group, Keenan Gosselin took 1st at 114lbs.  The second group of youth wrestlers, who also wrestled January 9, travelled to Alma to wrestle at the “Big Trophy” tournament, bringing home a total of six trophies.  Tacho Gonzales took 1st in the 5/6 year old group.  Ryan Ringler at 85lbs and Allexis Gonzales at 90lbs both took 2nd in the 9/10 year age group.  In the 11/12 year old group Jordan Ringler took 1st at 70lbs and George Gonzales Jr. took 2nd at 126lbs.  Chuckie Scheidel took 3rd at 138lbs in the 13-15 year old age group.  Make sure to get next week’s Post for the results from Cedar Springs’ own youth tournament that was held January 16!
