Acting President/Board of Directors, Christina Mabie; Superintendent Dan George; Consultant Lexie Coxon with Awards from Ferris State University.
Creative Technologies Academy garnered three distinguished awards at the Ferris State University Charter Schools Recognition Celebration in Dearborn on October 1. The awards were in recognition of achievements for the 2009-10 school year. The Academy, chartered by FSU in 1998, serves 300+ students in grades K-12, on its Cedar Springs campus.
CTA was one of seven schools to receive an EdYes! Composite Grade of “B” or Better and thus received a certificate of recognition as a “Distinguished School in Academic Performance.”
CTA was the “Top Scantron Performer (Grades 9-12)” of all FSU charter schools. For this achievement CTA received an engraved award and a $3,000 check.
For the 9th consecutive year CTA was the winner of the Outstanding Compliance (100%) Award and received an engraved plaque and a $5,000 check.
“These awards can be attributed to my predecessor, Mrs. Lexie Coxon, our wonderful staff, and their dedication to student achievement,” commented Dan George, Superintendent/School Leader. “Lexie has always taken pride in the award for 100% compliance and she continues to oversee that important area in her role as consultant since her retirement in January, 2010.”
“We will be using the cash awards to further improve student achievement with the purchase of the ACT QualityCore curriculum,” said Mr. George. “We are grateful to Ferris State University for their continued support and recognition of our efforts.”
