White Pine Trail walkers and bicyclists will soon have a place to stop and rest just south of Cedar Springs.
The Friends of the White Pine Trail had a concrete pouring party last Friday to get ready for a covered picnic table to be placed on the White Pine Trail between Indian Lakes and 16 Mile Road.
According to Dave Heyboer, Chairman of Friends of the White Pine Trail, the site had been cleared and prepared in anticipation of the concrete placement. Brush was cut and several trees were removed along with their stumps. A drain culvert was placed in a ditch then buried and the ground leveled prior to the concrete pour. In addition to a four-foot square and four-foot deep hole filled with concrete, there is also a large area surrounding where the table will go. Heyboer said it took seven yards of concrete to do the job.
He said the concrete would have to sit for about two weeks before the table is put in. They hope to do it sometime within the next month.
