Helen R. Gilchrist

Helen R. Gilchrist, 94, passed away August 20, 2010 in Rockford, MI.  She was born in Continental, OH to M. Albert and Blanche (Kraft) Wert on October 21, 1915.  She was the widow of Donald L. Gilchrist, to whom she was married for 58 years. She grew up in Angola, IN and also lived in Fremont, IN, Grosse Ile, MI, Everglades City, FL, Jonas Ridge, NC, Naples, FL, Grand Rapids, MI, and Rockford, MI.  She was a past Grand Worthy Matron of Fremont Eastern Star and a member of Minerva Club, the Marco Island Community Chorus, Angola United Methodist Church and Everglades City Community Church, where she was an organist and choir member.  She was a member of several Bible study classes, book review groups, bridge clubs and music organizations.  She enjoyed Brittany spaniels, travel, fishing and boating and was an avid sports fan. Surviving are children, Beverly (Gayl) Doster of Indianapolis and Lake James, IN, Barbara (Jerome) Gough, Livonia, MI, Judith (Robert) Murray, Cedar Springs, MI, Joseph (Michelle) Gilchrist, Greeley, CO, Jeffrey (Mary) Gilchrist, Kalamazoo, MI; grandchildren, Amy (Blake) Doster Svendsen, Douglas (Amber) Doster, David Blalock, Matthew (Julie) Gough, Kathryn (Kevin) Murray Bullen, Cynthia Murray, Tara Gilchrist Beyer, Todd (Stephanie) Gilchrist and 13 beloved great-grandchildren.  Memorials may be made to the Cedar Springs Public Library, 43 West Cherry Street, Cedar Springs, MI 49319. A memorial service will be held in June of 2011 at the Angola United Methodist Church. Interment has taken place at Lakeside Cemetery, Fremont, IN.
