Girls track takes third, sets records

On Friday May 14, the Cedar Springs girls track team traveled to Sparta for the OK Blue Conference Track meet. The team scored 86 points and placed third behind conference champion Sparta and runner up West Catholic. The team set two new school records, had two conference champions and had five team members earn all conference honors.

Junior Amber TerHaar was conference champion in the discus and broker her school record in the event with a throw of 118’ 3”.  Freshman Katie Weiler was the other conference champion winning the 3200 meter run with a freshman record time of 11:37.67.  The other school record was the 3200 meter relay team of Katie Weiler, Amanda Zinn, Amanda Balczak, and Breeann Ovokaitys placed second and set a new school record with a time of 9:58.69.  Earning all conference honors where Amber TerHaar, Katie Weiler, Breeann Ovokaitys, Rieley Hondalus, and, Heather Holmes.

Other placers in the meet were:

2nd Place:
Rieley Hondalus 400 meter dash; Breeann Ovokaitys 800 meter run;  Katie Weiler 1600 meter run; 1600 meter relay team of  Breeann Ovokaitys, Heather Holmes, Sommer VanDyke, and Rieley Hondalus.

3rd Place: Heather Holmes high jump; Amber TerHaar Shot Put; Breeann Ovokaitys 1600 meter run.
