A former resident of Cedar Springs was arraigned last week on multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct.

According to Cedar Springs Police Chief Roger Parent, Eric Jon Scott II, 38 of Wyoming, was investigated by Detective Pam Keen, of the Wyoming Police Department, after a referral from Child Protective Services. Through her interviews with the victim, she discovered that the crime actually took place when the victim lived in the City of Cedar Springs.

“Once we were contacted we were able to share some old information involving the same suspect. Our criminal sexual conduct case in 2005 had been closed due to the information gathered at that time did not support a criminal charge,” explained Parent. “But with this new on-going investigation, we reopened our case, and the prosecutor’s office issued criminal sexual conduct charges for both investigations involving two separate victims.”

Eric Jon Scott II was charged with two counts of CSC 2nd Degree, for the 2010 investigation and two counts of CSC 3rd Degree, related to the 2005 investigation. He received a $10,000.00 cash surety bond for each case. His preliminary exam will be held on May 21st at 10 a.m. in 63rd District Court.
No further information will be released due to the sensitive nature of the crime involving juvenile victims.
