Did we get wet? Yes! But was it fun? YES! Despite the rain and chill in the air, over 300 kids plus their parents turned out for the annual Cedar Springs Post Community Easter Egg Hunt last Saturday at Red Hawk Elementary. It began to rain just before it got underway, but the kids still had fun picking up eggs, finding coins, and getting either a winner’s basket or a consolation candy cup.
We had four age groups, and four winners in each group. We also had one winner who did not claim their prize.

The Rotary cooked and colored 120 dozen eggs, donated by Classic Kelly’s, for the Post Easter Egg Hunt.
The Post couldn’t put on this fun, family-friendly event without all the help it receives from the community! A special thank you goes out to: all the parents for making it out in the bad weather; Cedar Springs Schools for allowing use of the field; Family Fare for providing the candy for the consolation prizes; Billie VanderLaan of Metron, Christie Cierlak of Kent County Credit Union, and Donna Clark of the CS Library for helping Post staff members Bob Fitzgerald and Judy Reed put together 400 candy cups; Classic Kelly’s Restaurant for providing 120 dozen eggs; Julie Wheeler and the Cedar Springs Rotary for cooking the eggs; Donna Clark and other Rotary members for coloring the eggs; Cedar Springs United Methodist Church and Creative Technologies Academy for the use of their kitchens; the Keystone Kops (Dave Barnes) and the Cedar Springs Fire Department for running the hunt; Dan Randall for his donation of coins, and use of tables; the Red Flannel Queen and Court for helping with the hunt; Chris Bigney for taking photos of the winners; all the Post staff members who helped (especially Bob for heading it up), and of course, The Easter Bunny! A special thank you also goes out to all those who helped sponsor the hunt with a monetary donation.
