A Cedar Springs man was injured in an auto accident in Gratiot County last week.
According to the Gratiot County Sheriff’s Office, a 2008 Toyota Camry, driven by Jeffrey Mizer, 47, of Cedar Springs, was eastbound on M-46, ¼ mile east of Croswell Road in Bethany Township, when he struck the back of a semi-trailer. The semi was being driven by Ronald Kleinschmidt, 39, of Manchester, Michigan, and was making a left turn into Bader & Sons parking lot.
Mizer was extricated from his vehicle by Jaws of Life. He was then airlifted by Flight Care from the scene to St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw in serious condition. The driver of the semi did not receive any injuries.
Police said alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
The Gratiot County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the St. Louis Fire and Rescue, Alma Police Department, and Mobile Medical Response.
