Nine-yearold Taylor Steffke, of Cedar Springs, received a special surprise last Friday, February 5, while attending her first ever Griffins hockey game with her dad, Bruce Steffke. She got to ride the Zamboni!
According to Bruce, they attended the game with his company, and one of their employees was scheduled to ride the Zamboni between the second and third period and hold up a sign wishing another employee happy birthday. “I asked her if it would be possible if my daughter could ride instead of her, and she said yes,” explained Bruce.
While she rode, the announcer said, “Riding Zamboni number 2 is Taylor Steffke. Everyone say hi to Taylor!”
“I had the time of my life,” said Taylor, who attends Cedar View Elementary. “It was the best surprise I ever received.”
