Youth wrestlers take fourth at Morley

On January 17, a group of ten Cedar Springs youth wrestlers went to Morley-Stanwood High School in pursuit of the coveted Morley Mohawk Team Trophy. They competed against over 400 wrestlers from 20 different clubs. As a team Cedar finished fourth behind first place Spartan Lightning, second place Maple Valley and third place Bullock Creek.

Aiden Bouwens took first in the 5/6 year old 61lb division.  In the  7/8 year old division, placers were Trenton Snoeyink 55lb/4th, Reese Gonzales 58a/4th, Logan Hull 58b/1st, and Ryan Ringler 77lb/1st. In the 9/10 year old division, placers were Allexis Gonzales 75lbs/4th and George Gonzales Jr. 100lb/1st. In the 11/12 year old division, placers were Jordan Ringler 65lb/1st and Patrick Depiazza 158lbs/2nd. Logan Hull also won a trophy for the Fastest Pin with a time of 12.2 seconds.

Sparta also hosted its own tournament on the 17th at Sparta High School. Placers in the 5/6 year old division were Landon Demorest 37lb/1st, Jakob Hendee 46lb/4th and Trenton Wachter 52lb/1st.  In the 9/10 year old division, placers were Austin Emmorey 58b/3rd, Austin Wier 67lb/2nd, Cody Gott 97lb/3rd and Jeremy Wildfong HWT/ 2nd. Michael Smith took 3rd in the 13 to 15 year old division.
