The Varsity Red Hawk wrestling team met up with Belding and Grand Rapids Central at Comstock Park on Wednesday, January 13.

The night started out with the Red Hawks winning the match against Grand Rapids Central 75-0.  Highlights of the match were Kirk Moore (119 lb) and Jeremy Stellema (189 lb) pulling off big wins for the Hawks.

Belding rounded out the night for the Hawks. Starting with the 140 lb class, Senior Ricardo Rios dominating all three rounds and winning by decision 12 -9. The 145 lb & 152 lb rounds found Cedar Springs unable to pull off the win but hanging tough and only giving up 3 points per match, bringing the score to 3 -6 in favor of Belding.

Cedar Springs lead the next 6 matches with pins by Scott Vodry (160 lb), Stellema and Nic Baird (103 lb). Belding was able to earn 6 more points before the end of the night, but the Hawks came on strong to finish the meet winning 54-18 to remain undefeated in conference.

The Hawks travel to Coopersville on January 20 to challenge Comstock Park in a conference quad.

Come watch the Varsity team on Saturday, January 23 at 9 a.m. as they host an invitational tournament at home.
