Mrs. Linda Sue Ritchie, age 65, of Cedar Springs, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 17, 2010. She grew up on the northwest side of Grand Rapids and attended Central High School. After becoming a wife and mother, she worked as a private duty nurse’s aide. When Linda was younger and part of the ‘50’s and ‘60’s generation, she had a picture of Elvis (and to this day, she still has). Linda was really good at roller skating, even giving lessons, and she liked listening to country gospel. When her children were active in school, she was always there for them. She loved playing the piano; and if she could, she would play until dark, always encouraging her children to sing along. Linda had a beautiful doll collection. When her grandchildren arrived, she idolized each and every one, generously giving love and care. Linda is survived by her children, Michelle Shaffer and her fiancé, Tom McKinney, Greg (Sue) Shaffer, Darla Shaffer, Tom John Moore; 11 grandchildren, Josh (Sara), Thomas, Jr., Joseph, Meghan, Angela, Jamie, Gregory, Amber, Sarah, Spencer, Kevin; 3 great grandchildren, Trey, Jayden, Ava; mother, Mrs. Josephine Moore; brother, Steve (Angela) Moore, George (Danielle) Moore; special adopted daughter, Lisa Matteson and families; step-brothers, Ivan Cregg, David (Victoria) Steadman, May (Bill) Lytle, Joan (Robert) Shea; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Ritchie, Ray Shaffer, her father, George Moore, sisters, Nancy Dutell, Betty Lou Punches, Evelyn Steadman. The Service of Praise and Thanksgiving for the gift of everlasting life through Jesus Christ for Mrs. Ritchie was Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Woodbrook Cathedral, 1739 Providence, Grand Rapids, with Pastor J.B. Stutts officiating. Relatives and friends met with the family at the Pederson Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
