On Saturday, January 16, the Cedar Springs High School JV Wrestling team hosted an invitational meet that brought eight other districts to Cedar Springs. The day would find Cedar meeting up with Lakewood, Rockford, Whitehall and East Kentwood during the event.
Eight wrestlers competed from Cedar: Brett Bouwens and Nate Doerr (103 lb), Aaron Brooks (112 lb) Scott Stockreef (119 lb ), Allen Slagter (152 lb), Michael Armock (160 lb), Warren Armock (171 lb) and Aaron McLaughlin (215 lb).
Celebrating pins during the event was Slagter, who dominated his Lakewood opponent with a score of 0-12 and won by fall to earn 6 points for Cedar. He then went on to pin his 152 lb challenger from Whitehall. Stockreef earned falls against Lakewood and Rockford. Doerr delivered a quick pin to his Rockford opponent. The day found Brooks challenging and beating Lakewood and East Kentwood and Bouwens going undefeated against Whitehall, Rockford and East Kentwood.
The JV Hawks hosted an exciting meet that found Rockford taking home the first place trophy.
