Celebrate the season with Winterfest 2010

By Judy Reed

If you’re looking to break out of the January doldrums, head out this weekend to Howard City’s first annual Winterfest 2010.

“We’ve been talking about this event inhouse and with the Chamber of Commerce for the last couple of years,” said Howard City Village Manager Mark Rambo. “We worked together to finally make it happen.

Rambo said that Chamber president Mary Ann Shepherd is in charge of the event, which will include a snowmobile fun run along the White Pine Trail, snowmobile show, snowman and winter display contest, sledding, food and other activities.

Rambo said they plan to do this each year in addition to their September Harvest Festival. “We were trying to find something to do to cover the winter months,” he explained.

He said the Reed City Chamber also worked with them, and there will be food and a warming fire at the stop in Reed City.

Anyone wishing to download a registration form for the fun run can do so at www.howardcity.org.
