Family entertainer returns to Sparta for benefit concert

Chicago singer and author Jim Gill is coming to Sparta on Saturday, January 16 to perform a family concert at 3:30 p.m. Those who saw the show in 2008 know that Jim, an experienced showman, has a supply of engaging songs for children, parents and grandparents. He promises to bring back some old favorites, as well as add some new surprises, for a wonderful way to begin the new year.

Tickets cost $4 each and are available in the Ridgeview and Appleview school offices and at the Sparta High School on the day of the concert. Proceeds from this family event will be used to fund grants from the Sparta Education Foundation for projects and materials throughout the school district.

Auditorium doors will open at 3:15 p.m. with an opportunity to talk to Jim before the show. He’ll also visit with “fans” afterwards with his award-winning books and CDs available for purchase. Pizza and juice will also be sold by the PTC following the concert for a good finish to a great afternoon.
