New transportation service

Need a ride somewhere? Tri-County Call-A-Ride, LLC, is there for you. The new transportation service, which starts New Year’s Eve, will offer quality, dependable transportation services at affordable prices. Operating much like a taxi service, it will take both scheduled and on-demand calls. According to Tim Funk, director of transportation services, their fleet is equipped to handle wheelchair and mobility chairs as well as walk on riders. Based out of Sand Lake, the service covers parts of three counties, including Cedar Springs, Sand Lake, Howard City, Newaygo, Grant, Pierson, Trufant, Coral, Kent City, Belmont, Rockford, Sparta, Comstock Park and other areas.

Funk said their fares are below the average urban or large city fares. Start fee is $2.50, then $1.50 per mile. Payment must be ready when you reach your destination. They also provide Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security and other insurance transportation after approval and required paperwork from your case worker or provider.
