The Varsity Golf Team had some lows and highs this past week. On Tuesday, the Lady Red Hawks lost out to Forest Hills Northern by one stroke for the Ok-Blue Conference title. Nikki Bouwens was medalist with an 87, followed by Kaylee Costello with a 100 (5th place), and Chaya Coxon and Jackie Champion with 112s.
“That one stroke was a hard one to take,” said Costello. “Hopefully we can bounce back at Regional.”
And bounce back they did. The girls finished 2nd with a 397 at Katke in Big Rapids. The top 3 teams in each regional advance to the state meet at the Meadows. “The girls played really well. I am proud of all five,” said Coach Glen London.
Nikki Bouwens was once again match medalist with an 80. “Nikki has been tough all season,” said London. “She has won three of the five tournaments that we have played at.” Jackie Champion had a season best 101, Zarah Smith a 105, and Kaylee Costello a 111 to round out the scoring (Coxon carded a 115).
