Since the hallways and classrooms have been vacated by the students and staff at Creative Technologies Academy for summer break, four graduating student-athletes from CTA have decided to take their talents to Grace Bible College, located in Wyoming, Michigan.
Seniors Danielle Davies, Timothy Hubbard, Trisha Davies, and Ashley Witherspoon have each signed letters of intent to participate at the college level. Danielle plans on attending Grace and running on the cross country team in the fall, and Tim, Trisha, and Ashley will be hitting the hardwood for the Tiger’s basketball teams this winter.
When asked what this meant for CTA’s athletic programs, Athletic Director Kyle Bohl stated, “This is a tribute to not only the athletes, but also the commitment made throughout the years from both their parents and their coaches. Not only do the coaches care about player development within the confines of competition, but they also care about their student athletes as positive contributors to our society, and that’s what matters most.”
Although CTA will be losing these excellent student athletes to college, some fierce competitors are coming up through the ranks to take over the roles that these players are leaving behind. “Although we will miss these students on campus and on the field, every year graduation happens. The mark of a solid program is when a team doesn’t skip a beat from year to year due to player development, a lot of support from parents, and a ton of hard work,” Bohl said. The Chargers’ programs will look to continue a tradition of excellence on and off the court again for the 2011-2012 season.
