Hometown Hero


N-Hometown-Hero-GardnerArmy Pvt. Alexander W. Gardner

Army Pvt. Alexander W. Gardner has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

Gardner is the son of Amanda J. Webster, of Courtland Township, and the grandson of Juanita M. Webster and Daniel C. Webster.

He is a 2015 graduate of Cedar Springs High School.

Gardner is currently at AIT school in Fort Lee, Virginia, training as a unit supply specialist. He will graduate in December.

Post travels to Virginia


N-Post-Virginia-TompkinsJohn, Denise, Richard and Isaac Tompkins, of Cedar Springs, traveled to Virginia over the long Memorial Day weekend to visit their son, AN Tyrell Tompkins. And the Post got to along! Tyrell is stationed aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt at Newport News, Virginia. Thank you, Tyrell, for serving!
